Computer Sciences Corporation Action

PCS members in CSC (Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) are involved in a long running pay dispute over pay. Members have been working to rule for the last 2 months and have now voted to take a week of strike action starting on Monday next week.
The turnout was a fantastic 96% and 80% of members voted to escalate the dispute starting with the 5 days of strike action leading into a sustained period of strike action across the business.
We have 201 members taking strike action. These are ex-MoD staff who were TUPE transferred some years ago (the contract was previously run by EDS and then Hewlett Packard). The majority of the members are based at Kentigern House in Glasgow with a smaller number working on the MoD site in Gosport, Hampshire. The staff work as pension administrators and IT staff and are predominantly AO grade staff so pay is low.
In 2014 CSC declared profits of over $1 Billion dollars. It’s business revenue for the last quarter of 2014 was $3.2 Billion Dollars. The CEO of CSC was paid $13.37 Million Dollars last year. Margaret Hodge, Chair of the House of Commons Public Accounts Committee has described CSC as a “rotten company” and it has been criticised in America for its Tax Avoidance practises.
In return for their work delivering these huge profits PCS members have been offered a pay rise worth less that 9 pence an hour (the initial offer was a rise of 0.3% – after members voted to reject this and voted for action the employer made an ‘improved’ offer of 0.3% for the first 8 months of the pay year and 0.6% for the last 4 months!).
