How dare they sack Candy Udwin?
The National Gallery have summarily dismissed Candy Udwin a week after the election of the Conservative government. She has been sacked for carrying out her duties as a PCS representative and for opposing privatisation at the gallery. Candy has been speaking up for all of us. Now we have to stand up for her.

PCS members in the gallery voted to escalate our dispute if Candy was dismissed. The Gallery are also insisting on going ahead with the privatisation plans even though PCS have alternative proposals which would mean the privatisation is unnecessary. There will now be a further two weeks of strike action.
We are going to take the campaign to Gabriele Finaldi, the new Director, to ask if he really wants to see the gallery destroyed in this way. Instead of sacking Candy and inflaming the dispute, managers should get back to talks to end the damage that they are doing to the gallery.

PCS has called a major national demonstration in Trafalgar Square on Saturday 30 May in support of our campaign against the privatisation.
