End Austerity Now National Demonstration

With the election of a Conservative majority government we know exactly what to expect. More cuts to the things ordinary people care about: the NHS, the welfare state, education and public services.

PCS has is supporting the demo on 20 June organised by the People’s Assembly, a campaign group which opposes privatisation and cuts to public spending and services pay, and pensions.

Unions, campaign groups, trades councils and local People’s Assembly groups are arranging transport. We are certain that this demo is going to be massive as anger at the Tories cuts and further proposed cuts is turning into spontaneous mobilisation on the streets. We saw thousands of people flooded the streets of Bristol this week in an anti-austerity demonstration which was organised by a group of young, determined women.

On Saturday 20 June we will assemble at 12pm, Bank of England, Queen Victoria Street in the City of London.

We need to make June 20th as big as possible to send a message to everyone who feels vulnerable under this union busting tory government – that they are not alone.

So far more than 50,000 people have pledged to take to the streets on June 20 PCS are supporting this demonstration and will be building for a big presence over the next few weeks.

We demand an alternative to austerity and to policies that only benefit those at the top.
