On Wednesday 8th July 2015 at approximately 12.30pm, Chancellor George Osborne MP will deliver his first Budget as part of a majority Conservative Government. The People’s Assembly is calling a national day of protests against austerity on that day across the country. This is the second budget in just four months & it begs the question what was Osborne hiding in his last?In London the assembly point will be at Parliament from 5:30pm. People’s Assembly will be staging a mass “die-in,” where they would like everyone if they can to lay on the ground as if they’re dead in front of Parliament to highlight the deaths caused by cuts to welfare services and benefits.
These stunts come at a great time since Ian Duncan Smith MP recently attempted to block the publication of “death statistics” that will reveal how many people have died within six weeks of their benefits being stopped.
On 8th July 2015 they will also be protesting in support of the numerous unions on strike on the day. People’s Assembly say it will be a day of broad and solid action!
PCS have published details of the North West protest – they can be found here.
