PCS at the Tolpuddle Martyrs’ Festival – 17-19 July

Every summer trade unionists from across the country gather in Tolpuddle to celebrate the historic and heroic role the Tolpuddle martyrs played in our movement. This year PCS takes our message that today, as in 1834, the only way to fight union busting is to unite.

PCS general secretary Mark Serwotka will be taking part in a ‘Which way now for unions?’ debate along with Guardian journalist Seamus Milne on Saturday at 1-2.30pm in the Martyrs’ Marquee. Musicians performing at the event include Seth Lakeman and Billy Bragg.

The PCS stall will be open to visitors from Friday lunchtime (17 July) through to Sunday evening (19 July). If you would like to volunteer please contact South West regional secretary James Davies (James Davies)and feel free to stop by if you are attending this years’ festival.

On Sunday the traditional procession takes place in tribute to the martyrs at 2pm.

For information including transport to the festival visit the PCS South West events page.
