On Thursday 17th December 2015 the DWP stated that the Government announced “that it will consult on whether more responsibility for care should be devolved to Local Authorities in England, and to Wales. This would be for people in the future who would otherwise have been newly claiming Attendance Allowance (AA).
At this stage only a consultation has been announced and no decisions have been taken. Any changes would happen from 2018 at the earliest.
This would only affect claimants who would be new AA claimants after 2018. No changes are proposed for DLA over 65 recipients, existing AA recipients, or Carer’s of existing recipients.”
The Branch has written to the five local Members of Parliament in the Fylde, Wyre and Blackpool area asking that they raise the issue of the potential impact on job losses and the future security of the jobs in the Fylde.
