This week (8-14 Feb) is heartunions week, celebrating the work trade unions and their network of volunteer reps do to help working people every day.
In workplaces all over Britain, union activists are making sure we are safe, protecting our jobs, bargaining for fair pay, and helping us get on at work through learning and training. They’re backed up by more than six million members – from nurses to checkout assistants to lorry drivers to airline pilots and to civil servants & commercial sector workers. We ♥ unions, and at the TUC we’re helping people across our wide movement to show why they ♥ unions too. heartunions week is a chance to showcase the amazing work unions do, and to tell the stories of ordinary members and reps.
And heartunions week comes at a crucial time. The government are currently trying to push through drastic changes in the Trade Union Bill, that will make it harder for unions to organise, recruit members, and stand up for workers’ rights.
As the Bill is debated in its House of Lords, we need to keep it in the public eye – reminding people why unions are so important, and the damage this Bill could do. Can you help?
Here are 5 things you can do right now to help out during heartunions week:
1 – Tell us why you ♥UNIONS
http://heartunions.org/get-involved/
Spread the love by sharing a photo or message on social media.
2 – Sign and share our petition

Tell David Cameron to rethink the Trade Union Bill. We’re handing it in to No10 this week.
3 – Watch Emma’s story http://heartunions.org/emmas-story/
Listen to union rep Emma talk about why her work matters so much.
4 – PCS Members get involved with activity in the region
Events are taking place across the UK as part of PCS support for a week of activities starting on Monday (8 February) to oppose the trade union bill and celebrate the work of reps and members in our workplaces and society.
