You may be aware that Senior Disability Benefits Management have withdrawn assumed consent in the Telephony area at Warbreck stating that they are invoking 15 g) of the Employee Deal as follows:

“15 g) Where employees guarantee their attendance at certain times by fixing either their start or finish time, that will generate adequate resources to meet customer demand at those times. The flex arrangements above should also ensure that consent to work flexibly at the opposite, non-fixed end of the day will be assumed, with line managers overriding this assumption exceptionally”.

However clause 15 g) states implicitly that by staff fixing start or finish times you will have sufficient resources to meet customer demand at those times.

PCS therefore believe this confirms a long standing shortage in the number of staff required to provide good customer service rather than an exceptional circumstance under the Employee Deal. We believe that exceptional circumstances mean the invocation of business continuity plans, i.e. genuine emergencies
