Unite Community are holding their third annual day of action against benefit sanctions on Thursday 30th March 2017.
Events and demonstrations are expected to be held in many towns and cities across the country. Many of these demonstrations will be held outside DWP offices including Job Centres.
Unite Community have assured PCS that there campaign is against the government’s policies on sanctions, and other social security policies, and is in no way an attack on DWP staff/PCS members who have to implement these policies.
Unite Community has also made clear that it supports PCS members in their fight against the proposed job centre closures. Unite Community branches have in many cases chosen to demonstrate outside the job centres that have been targeted for closure in support of the PCS members who work there.
PCS fully supports the campaign to end benefit sanctions and encourages reps and members to offer as much support as possible to Unite Community on 30th March. Details of where events are being held can be found via this link to the Unite Community website.
