The Branch raised the issue of the movement, initially, of members to Telephony – raising concerns that a “names from a hat” approach had been deployed. We were informed that it was on a voluntary basis and that the employer had been inundated with volunteers.
Soon thereafter we were alerted to instances of people being pressed into Telephony. The employer confirmed that they were no longer relying on volunteers (so much for the inundation).
The latest developments have included EO Case managers being required to undertake telephony; the Branch has been inundated by e-mails/ concerns.
The Branch has raised concerns about training/ support, if disabilities (ability to undertake Telephony work) have been taken into account etc
If you are directed to undertake Telephony work and you have concerns such as
- training/ support,
- disabilities (ability to undertake Telephony work)
- other issues
Then please e-mail this e-mail address and we will provide advice
It may also be pertinent to lodge a grievance if there could be material detriments as a result of undertaking Telephony duties, if there is then please indicate on the grievance that there are material detriments and request that the status quo clause is honoured, until the grievance/ appeal process has been exhausted
