As 2017 draws to a close we would like to thank you for your hard work and dedication this year in supporting PCS campaigns and helping to promote your union.
For too many 2017 has been a year of increasing insecurity, poverty and wider political challenges. PCS campaigns both at home and in global solidarity to end injustice and inequality.
In the autumn, PCS public sector members voted in record numbers to call on the government to scrap the pay cap and fully fund an above inflation pay increase. The government’s 7-year pay squeeze has cut living standards, and rising inflation is only making matters worse. For a more in-depth update on our pay campaign watch the video of our latest Facebook Live event.
Help build our pay campaign
In the new year, we will need your help to build the campaign in your workplace so that if we need to take action to force the government to deliver fully funded, above inflation pay rises, we go into a ballot confident of a huge yes vote. There will be further workplace activities planned for 31 January and the TUC Love Unions Day on 14 February. You can get more involved in your union by becoming a union advocate and if you know any colleagues who are not in the union ask them to join.
We also continue to fight for the best deal on civil service redundancy pay and you can keep up to date on the latest news on our talks with the government by liking our Facebook page, following us on Twitter and visiting our website.
Finally, our members working in our commercial sector areas also face similar challenges – low pay, restrictive work practices and job insecurity. We will continue to work to strengthen union organisation in these areas to tackle these important issues.
We hope you get some time to relax and enjoy the festive period over the next few weeks and would like to wish you a happy and peaceful 2018.
Yours faithfully,
Mark Serwotka Janice Godrich
General Secretary National President
