Some of your questions answered ahead of next weeks 1st February action
1-February-strike-FAQs
Who is on strike on the 1 February 2023?
Around 100,000 PCS members will be taking strike action on 1 February.
I joined PCS after the ballot, can I still strike?
If your employer is listed and you and you are a PCS member, you can take part in the 1 February strike. New members who join on the day the action starts can also participate in the strike.
Do I need to tell my manager in advance that I am striking?
You do not have to give any prior notice to your manager if you are taking strike action. We would ask members not to tell line managers in advance. Notice has been given to all 123 employers, so they know where and when our members are be taking strike action. You do not need to call in on the day of strike action either to say that you are striking.
Strike pay will be paid to members taking targeted strike action, like members in the Department for Transport. These members in certain employer areas are taking strike action on behalf of every other member. This is so we can put sustained pressure on the government to meet our demands on pay, pensions, terms and conditions.
National strike action by all members on the 1 February is not part of the targeted action and strike pay will not be payable.
